Differentiated Instruction: meeting learners first so they can meet curriculum
Differentiated instruction is the ability to meet the needs of all learners in classroom so that they will have a successful learning expereince. in a differentiated classroom learners have opportunites that are geared to their learning abilities, learning styles and personal background. One of the forward thinkers on this topic is Carol Ann Tomlinson. In her book How to Differentiate Instruction in Mixed-Ability Classrooms, Tomlinson describes differentiated learning as "'shaking up' what goes on in the the classroom so that students have multiple option for taking in information, making sense of ideas, and expressing what they learn.
